The artists strive to comprehend the universe around themselves with enthusiasm and without limitations of history or nation.

We attempt to gather differing and incomparable masters into our gallery. From the “finished” techniques come the exquisite workmanship of Arkadij Levin’s still-lifes, the “fraudulent” Alexej Panferov still-lifes, the classical still-lifes of AAlexander Shirovskij to paintings of riotous color, the powerful works of Vladimir Bogdanov and from the intellectual playfulness of Alexander Gajour to the cubist opuses of Aram Kupetzian and Fiodor Rabitchev.

The art may incorporate mythology, folklore, the grotesque, “retro style”, anachronism and myth-creation. Andrej Medvedev uses dolls (stressed static, doll-queen, Infant, Judith). Many artists incorporate into their works playful colors, dark backgrounds as seen in the work by the “old masters” and “retrospective” elements. But the artists may experiment in different ways. Ekaterina Kornilova creates a generation of “ragged”, bald boys and girls as pioneers, infants and other characterizations, as does Alexander Parkchomenko.

The use of retrospect based in national folklore can be seen in the paintings of Alexej Charougin and Elena Cherkasova, who interpret and transfigure the world of pictorial decoration and the spinning motifs of Russian folklore (Lubok paintings) and traditional Russian Orthodox icons.

The rhythmic paintings of Alexej Smirnov-Voskresenskij use Bruegel and the “small Dutchman” to create the impression of – while reflecting back to – national Lubok folklore works.

The works of Alla .Krashina-Shadova, Nickolay.Bondarev, Sergej.Travnikov, Vladimir Filatov ,Nickolaj Krashin, Natalia Evseeva, Sergej Chesnokov-Ladizenskij are the result of artists exploring the avant-garde in combination with playfulness and ingenuity, without being afraid of constraints. Most of our artists do not follow the norms of traditional realism. They create a parallel world with freedom from idioms and conventional art. Their work is more “theatrical” than “real” and their creativity is playful and dreamlike while not being limited by direct observation and an immediate response to the real world.

It is difficult for us to say how the presented work will last into history, but we have every reason to believe it will.
