Dmitrij Markelov was born in Volgograd, Russia, in 1953. He graduated from the Lvov Polytechnic University of Ukraine. Being an architect by profession he worked for a long time in Lvov in a sphere of visual advertisement. Since 1992 he has concentrated on producing color graphics. During last few years he has been transferring graphic techniques into his paintings. His oil paintings, full of bizarre and color burlesque, ensure Markelov's position as a serious and talented artist. He makes most of his works to order.
